Greatest American Dog Show

Greatest American Dog - Week 7 Rescue Situations

Has anyone noticed that the logo shown at the start of the show has a dog that looks like Presley (the boxer) jumping into the word dog? Is that a hint at who will be the winner of this competition?

I think both challenges were well thought out this week. These were tasks that dogs are capable of doing. The best part of the dog bone challenge was the parings which combined the pairs that did would have the most conflict. I liked it and the pairs rose to the occasion. The winners were Bill & Star and Travis and Presley.

This week’s task: The Maze. The leg up earned by Bill and Travis turned out not to be much of a benefit as both ended up as possible elimination candidates. Beth Joy and Bella Star were the poorest performers and they were sent home this week.

Best in show went to Theresa and Leroy (for the second week in a row) who were truly amazing at getting the puppies through the maze.

The most interesting part of the show was the melt down of the judges. I liked seeing them display a little personality. Unfortunately the kiss and make up scene after the commercial took all of the energy out of the moment and seemed rather staged and artificial. Last week I mentioned that I thought that the judges may have had it in for JD, well this week it appears that Victory Stowell (the judge with the English accent, and my least favorite) really does have a strong objection to JD because of the way he trains his dogs. I think that she is out of line and just plain wrong.

My least favorite part of this weeks show? The editing. It looked like it was done by some high school kid who was editing his first home movie. The cut just before the announcing of the winner of the dog bone challenge was so poorly done that I thought my TV set turned off. The timing of that cut was really lame. I also thought the cut during the argument between the judges was also poorly placed and the way it was picked up with a make nice moment was very disappointing. Is it any wonder why cable is doing so well in the ratings battle.

I love the show but the judges have to go. The challenges are a little silly, painting for dogs? They were upset at Beth Joy for dressing Bella Star yet they expect the dogs to paint. Come on!

Star and Bill are my favorites and I really like Galaxy too. Still, I think the judges are way off base. Even though Beth Joy and Bella Star were taken off tonight, I felt that Bella Star was a great dog. All the dogs are special in their way. If they eliminate Bill and Star, I’ll really be upset. I still hope they win. Bill is darling the way he loves his wife and Star. He’s a real winner in my book.

Agreed. bill and his dog are the coolest, perhaps not best trained, but most genuine.
These judges… that silly snorting JAP girl should not not only be allowed to have her stupid little dog with her (unless she were required to put it in to the competition), but also should refrain from engaging the other woman judge so condescendingly… it’s sad. now that the attractive and threatening Laura is gone, she’s got no one to pester except her own counterpart on the panel. In this post- American Idol era, anyone on a panel with a shadow of conceit wants to be Simon Cowell. It really is that simple. Next to go should be team of judge and judge’s pet.

Let’s have a vote to see if Victoria (stinky face) Stowell should go back to England where they abuse and spoil there dogs with treats and have no idea about proper calm assertive training mythods as the great Cesar Millan teaches. I would like to know just what is written on JD’s T-shirt?

IF LORI AND ANDREW STAY ON ANOTHER WEEK AFTER NO ACCOMPLISHMENTS THUS FAR I’M TURNING IT OFF THAT LITTLE DOG EXIBITED NO “IQ” AND THE JUDGES SEEM TO ACCEPT ANYTHING LORI COMES UP WITH I THOUGHT THIS SHOW WOULD NOT BE FIXED!!!!

    Leroy & Galaxy rock.

First, I am glad bella Starlet got the boot, That dog was so stressed out by her owner that she was taking nips at everybody…I never actually saw why she was in the competition to begin with. Her only discernable talent was sitting still for being made up like a barbie doll. Her training consisted entirely of being talked to like a kindergartner! Enuf said on that
Bill and Star is a good match, and Bill doesn’t waste anyones time by arguing with the judges. I don’t have anything to say about Lori and andrew, it looks to me like they are just riding the “lo-profile wave”.
I think the best is between leroy and galaxy, these appear to be the best trained and the least stressed out but in this show with these judges I don’t think it is about the best dog, more about who hasn’t pissed off a judge with a personal agenda. The only good way to watch this show is with tivo so you can skim thru the amateurist theatrics.

Victoria Stillwell, in my most humble opinion, is awesome. In fact, I was thinking of not watching another reality show until I saw she would be judging it. The little “fit” between the 2 judges seemed fixed, though. The other female judge should leave her dog at home.

I agree that Bella Starlet and her drama queen owner had to go. They’ve milked that for all it’s worth, and it was getting tiring.

I think Galaxy is well-trained, but it’s hard to root for him because his owner is so arogant. My favorite team is Theresa and LeRoy. LeRoy’s barking annoyed me a bit at first, but he’s a great dog and Theresa is a wonderful, warm hearted person and dog owner!

Bill is devoted to his wife — I get that, and I like him. Just think he needs to go home and be with her. I’m growing tired of hearing over and over how he misses her so much. Star is super, and I can’t blame her on the puppy rescue challenge. Older dogs just don’t have the patience for puppies the way some older people don’t have the patience for young kids.

Hi Victoria!! We lovingly call you the “dog Nazi” and are very glad to see another season of “Me or the Dog” coming on soon!

The judge with the little dog should be booted off. It’s obvious why she slams positive techniques - she is over the top negative and insulting. Anyone deserves to be disagreed with respectfully. She shocked me and I think she shocked Victoria too.

I watch Victoria’s show and she is not all hugs and kisses with the dogs. She’s quite firm and calm and is a big believer in humans being the boss. She doesn’t have one stock answer and realizes dogs are not all the same. She has a way of saying “Eh eh” that gets my border terrier’s attention. I have threatened him with Victoria if he barks like an idiot one more time.

Leroy did great but that is what his breed is bred to do - herd. He definitely had a genetic advantage. I hope Bill and Star win.

This is a reality show and therefore, weirdly enough - very staged and silly. It is the only one I can watch because at least the dogs are spontaneous.

Yeah JD is Arrogant alright but it’s “greatest American Dog” which is what I wish the judges would remember, too often they judge the dogs based on the owners creativity or lack thereof…it’s a shame the show’s premise was a good one but it’s like watching Bob Sagett on funniest video’s, just falls flat of expectations.

I think the judges are way too lenient with Lori and Andrew. Cute dog, but they aren’t very interesting. They really pick on JD and Galaxy and Galaxy is the most well trained. Leroy is a Border Collie and should have done best with the puppies, kind of unfair competition. The painting, how stupid dogs don’t paint. I like Travis and Presley and Bill and Star.. However, I just don’t wan’t Lori to win. I was so upset win Tillman left.
